BUZZARDS BAY, MA -- Last week, Buccaneer Baseball's freshman closer Brenden Baiardi signed with the Westfield Starfires of the Futures Collegiate Baseball League (FCBL).

In 2022, Baiardi was named to the MASCAC All-Conference First Team. The freshman closer was tied for the MASCAC lead in saves with seven and was 19th in the nation in the category at the end of the season. In 14 appearances this spring, Baiardi posted a 1-1 record as the team's closer. He struck out 18 hitters in 15 innings while allowing 10 hits, seven walks, and five runs. He finished the season with a 3.00 ERA. He was one of two freshman in the MASCAC to be selected to the All-MASCAC First Team.

Baiardi is the second Buc to sign with a FCBL team this summer with Brodey Tinkham signing with the Worcester Bravehearts. Brenden will wear the number 12 for the Starfires who are currently 5th in the league standings with a 21-22 record.
