How It Happened

Wentworth jumped ahead in the top of the first, scoring two runs on Petit's double and a Peruzzi single. The Leopards went on to add a second run in the top of the second to take a 3-0 lead on another Petit hit that plated a run. In the bottom of the second, Maritime got on the board scoring two runs. Both runs came across on Leopard errors with Velzis and Dean scoring to bring the score to 3-2.

In the bottom of the third, the Bucs tied the game and took the lead. The tying run came across on another Wentworth miscue, the second on a Dean ground out to the pitcher that scored Luciano. The Bucs led 4-3 after three.

Wentworth took the lead back in the top of the fifth on Kirst's double that brought two runs across to give them a 5-4 advantage.

The Leopards held their lead until the bottom of the sixth when the Bucs came back for the second time in the game. Tying the game at 5-5, Perito singled to left center, scoring Dean. Estrada came to the plate and doubled to left center and plated two runs, Perito and Vieira, to take a 7-5 lead.

Not out of the woods, Maritime sent Baiardi to the hill in the seventh. O'Neill doubled to left center bringing Peruzzi in to score. A wild pitch moved O'Neill up to third base. Baiardi went on to strike out the next hitter for the second out of the inning. The next hitt hit a sharp liner to second. A ball that looked like it would get over the head of Vieira ended up in his glove as he leapt up to grab the third out and seal the 7-6 win for the Bucs over the Leopards.
