How It Happened

It was a low scoring itchers duel between Fidler and Brown in New London. The Bears opened the scoring in the bottom of the second on a Madden double to center and an error later in the inning that scored Madden. The Bears carried their 2-0 lead through the first four innings.

Maritime scored their first run in the fifth on a Shlapak single that scored Velzis to cut the Bears lead in half.

Neither team could find their way across the plate through the next few innings. In the bottom of the eighth, Coast Guard extended their lead to 3-1 on a Boland single.

The Bucs attempted a comeback in the ninth when Perito scored on Schlapak's second hit of the day. The Bucs clawed and tried to get the tying run in but were unable to do so and dropped the game to the Bears 3-2.
