Baseball Allows One Run in Sweep of Hornets
BUZZARDS BAY, MA -- The Buccaneers hosted NVU-Lyndon for a double header on Sunday afternoon at Hendy Field. In an attempt to save some arms with five games in four days beginning on Sunday, Brodey Tinkham and Sam Huffman provided complete games in 5-1 and 17-0 wins over the Hornets.

- Alex Schlapak, Zach Sylvia, and AJ Pietrafesa had multi-hit games with two each.
- A.J. Luciano, Brett Velzis, Aidan Henderson, and Michael Doyle all had hits. Luciano recorded a double.
- Sylvia drove in a run and scored twice. Doyle drove in a run. Luciano and Schlapak each scored once.
- Pietrafesa and Tropea stole bags in the win.
NVU-Lyndon
- EJ Camden, Matt Doherty, and Tyler Roberge tallied the three hits for the Hornets offense.
- Doherty drove in the only run that was scored by Skyler Bushy.
How It Happened
Lyndon opened the scoring in the second inning on Doherty's hit that scored Bushy.
The Hornets held their lead for one inning before the Bucs got on the board in the bottom of the third, scoring two runs. One on a Sylvia single to right and another on a signature Buccaneer double steal that scored Sylvia.
Maritime went on to score one run in each of the next two innings. In the fourth they scored on a Doyle single bringing Pietrafesa home. In the fifth, Pietrafesa singled to bring Schlapak around to score.
Tinkham settled in after the one run in the second and cruised to a 5-1 win in game one.

- 13 players combined to record 17 hits for the Bucs in the game two win. A.J. Luciano, Hunter Dean, John Tropea, and senior captain Frank Aten each had two hits.
- Dean and Jake Quillen each had doubles in the game.
- Tucker Leslie hit his first career home run to left center field.
- Tropea and Aten led the way with three RBI each. Leslie had two runs driven in as well.
- Nine players total drove in runs for the Bucs.
- Alex Schlapak scored four times in the game. Six other players scored three times in the win.
NVU-Lyndon
- The Hornets recorded three hits, one apiece from John Mahoney, Ryder Thornton, and Matt Doherty.
- Mahoney stole a base in the loss.
How It Happened
Holding the Hornets off the board in the top of the first, the Buccaneers scored three run in the first, including a Piertafesa steal of home.
Maritime added a run in the bottom of the third on an infield single by Captain Aten to score Sylvia.
The fifth inning was the biggest of the game for the Bucs as they plated 12 runs, two on the Leslie home run.
Up 16-0 after five and a half innings, the Bucs added a 17th run in the bottom of the sixth. Sam Huffman went on to sit down the Hornets in order to pick up his second victory of the season and the fourth for the Bucs, 17-0.
