How It Happened

Nichols wasted no time getting on the board, scoring in the top of the first on a Cormier double that scored Jerome who had led off the game with a walk.

The Bucs were not able to answer in the first or second, allowing the Bison to hold their lead until the bottom of the third. In the third, the Bucs tied the game and took the lead, 2-1. Luciano provided the first run with a single that scored Dean. The very next hitter, Tropea, flied out to left which scored Leslie in the process to give the Bucs the lead that they would never look back from.

Buccaneer pitching got in some minor jams throughout the game but the defense and excellent recovery by the pitchers kept the home team in the game.

In the bottom of the fifth, Maritime got an insurance run on a Luciano single to left that scored Aten.

Huffman was done after the fifth and Parks came in to shut the door on the Bison, picking up a four-inning save. The Bucs picked up their second victory of the week and improved to 2-3 on the year with their 3-1 win over Nichols.
