WESTFIELD, MA -- On Thursday morning, the #3 seeded Buccaneers took on the #6 seeded Framingham Rams in the first round of the MASCAC baseball playoffs. Playing at Westfield State, the Bucs bats and arms were on point as Maritime shutout the Rams 7-0 to move on to the MASCAC quarterfinals.

At The Plate
Maritime
- Alex Schlapak, Brett Velzis, and A.J. Luciano all had two hits in the game.
- Michael Doyle, Aidan Henderson, John Tropea, and AJ Pietrafesa all had hits in the game.
- Velzis hit his fourth home run of the season in the fifth inning. Shlapak and Henderson each had a double.
- Velzis drove in four runs in the game. Sazh Sylvia, Tropea, and Luciano all had an RBI.
- Sylvia was credited with a stolen base in the win.
Framingham
- Rovert Johnston and Ryan Boyle had two hits each for the Rams.
- Steven Burbank added a hit as well.
- Ethan Moniz drew two walks, Boyle worked one.
How It Happened
Brown was outstanding on the mound for the Bucs throwing seven innings allowing no runs. In relief, Parks did his job allowing no hits in two innings of work to preserve the large Maritime lead.
The Bucs broke the scoreless tie in the bottom of the third inning on a Luciano single that scored Pietrafesa. Sylvia then brough Luciano in to score on a sacrifice fly to right to make it 2-0. Later in the inning, Velzis singled to right to score Shlapak. The Bucs held a 3-0 lead after three innings.
In the bottom of the fifth, Velzis doubled the Buccaneer lead to 6-0 on a three run home run over the right field fence. Tropea went on to bring in a seventh Buc run on a single to center, scoring Henderson.
The Buccaneers held on for the 7-0 shutout win and will play Westfield State on Thursday afternoon at 3pm.
