Playoff Preview: Bucs Take on Rams in MASCAC First Round

BUZZARDS BAY, MA -- For the fourth time this season, the Buccaneers and Rams will face off on the diamond. This time, in Westfield in the MASCAC Playoffs. The winner stays in Westfield to take on the #2 seed Owls at 3pm, the other team's season is over.

On the first weekend of April, The Bucs got the best of the Rams in the three-game conference series winning two out of three games. The Bucs lost the first game at home on April 1st 6-5 and went on to win both games in Framingham on Saturday, 2-0 and 6-2. 

In the Saturday wins, the Bucs Brodey Tinkham picked up his fourth win of the season. Freshman closer Brendan Baiardi recorded his second save in game one. Maritime scored their two runs on an Alex Schlapak single and an Aidan Henderson single to help Tinkham and Baiardi to the 2-0 shutout.

In game two on Saturday, Hunter Dean pitched a complete game with four strikeouts allowing one earned run. Offensively, Zach Sylvia drove in two runs, Michael Doyle scored twice en route to the team's 6-2 victory.

In the Friday loss, Framingham came back from one run down in the eighth scoring two runs to go up 6-5 late. AJ Pietrafesa had a double and two RBI in the loss.

Framingham picked up the #6 seed in the tournament on the final weekend winning the tiebreaker over Fitchburg State to get into the tournament. The Rams finished the regular season 11-26 with a 6-15 conference record.

Maritime, the #3 seed, finished the regular season 22-15, 14-7 in the conference. One win behind the #2 seed Owls who host the first round for this portion of the tournament.
