Velzis Named MASCAC Rookie of the Week
WESTFIELD, MA -- The MASCAC announced their weekly awards on Monday and @bucs_base made the cut as Sophmore third baseman Brett Velzis has been named Conference Rookie of the Week!
Velzis Batted .636 (7-11) with a triple, home run, four RBI and five runs scored with a .692 on-base percentage and 1.091 slugging percentage in a 2-1 week for the Buccaneers. Had three hits in two of three games against Westfield State, including a 3-for-4 showing at the plate with a home run, two RBI and two runs scored in the 9-6 win over the Owls and 3-for-5 with a triple, two RBI and two runs scored in the 11-9 win.
