Baseball Loses Season Opener to Palm Beach State

Lake Worth, FL -- Buccaneer baseball played their first game of the 2022 season on Saturday against Palm Beach State College, a junior college, in Lake Worth, Florida. While the Bucs were opening the season the team from the Sunshine state had played 18 games to date with a 13-5 record coming in to the game. The Panthers ended up picking up their 14th win, handing the Bucs their first loss of the season, 19-3 in nine innings.

  • The Buccaneers recorded five hits in the game, including a home run off the bat of senior A.J. Luciano, the first of his career. Freshman Hunter Dean got his first career double in the game with Senior Jacob Rogers, sophomore AJ Pietrafesa and freshman Michael Estrada each picking up singles.
  • Luciano drove in a run on his homerun and Estrada was also credited with an RBI in the game. 
  • Four players drew walks for the Bucs, freshman Billy Gorry, along with upper classmen Nolan KennedyChris Perito and senior captain Frank Aten.
