Three Bucs Selected to All-MASCAC Second Team

WESTFIELD, Mass -- Wednesday afternoon the MASCAC released the 2023 Baseball All-MASCAC Teams with three Bucs selected to the second team.

Senior outfielder John Tropea has been named to his first All-Conference team after finishing 2023 with a .326 batting average and .436 on-base percentage. He had 42 hits this season with eight doubles, three triples and a home run and drove in 26 runs and stole seven bases.
 
Junior first baseman AJ Pietrafesa makes his first appearance on an All-Conference Team this season after batting .289 with a .359 on-base percentage. He had 39 hits this year with four doubles and a triple. He drove in 25 runs and had two steals on the year. Most impressively, he made just two errors at first base and posted a .994 fielding percentage in 2023 and has a .992 career fielding percentage.
 
Junior third baseman Brett Velzis makes his second straight appearance on the MASCAC All-Conference Teams and in 2023 he batted .385 with a .480 on-base percentage. Brett had 55 hits this season with 10 doubles, three triples and a career-high nine home runs and drove in 37 runs, scoring 42 times. During the MASCAC Playoffs this season, Brett hit his ninth home run of the year which also marked his 100th career hit in just his junior season.
