How It Happened

The Buccaneers struck first in the bottom of the first inning when Velzis grounded out to second base to score Sylvia from third.

With Dwight dealing on the hill, the Bucs held the 1-0 lead into the third and added to it in the bottom of the inning. Weir doubled to left center to score Sylvia and Perito then Quillen singled to right bringing in Weir from third to make it 4-0 Buccaneers.

The Bucs and Leopards went to the pen after five innings and the momentum shifted slightly. In the top of the sixth, Cullinan singled to left to score Peruzzi and DiPina to erase the shutout making it 4-2 Buccaneers. The new Wentworth pitcher, Sullivan, shut down the Bucs, not allowing a run the rest of the way.

In the ninth, Baiardi allowed an unearned run on a Robinson single that scored Favazzo who had reached earlier due to a Maritime fielding error. With their backs against the wall and the tying and go-ahead runs on base, Baiardi struck out the final batter of the inning to secure the 4-3 win for the Bucs.
