How It Happened

The Bucs took the early lead in the first inning in game two and never looked back in this one. Patane doubled in the bottom of the first bringing in Kerecz to score making it 1-0 Maritime.

The Buccaneers scored again in the second, this time on a Burton two-run single down the right field line, plating Butler and Biondo.

Down 3-0, the Bears scored their first run in the top of the third. McLaughlin singled to center bringing in one run to cut the Bucs lead to 3-1.

In the top of the fourth, Bridgewater scored again to make it a one-run game. Thibaudeau singled to score Klingel making it 3-2 Maritime.

In the bottom of the fifth, Donlan tacked on another run for the Bucs with an RBI double to right center bringing in Patane to score. The Buccaneers led 4-2 after five.

Looking for some insurance runs, Maritime scored again in the bottom of the sixth, this time of a three-run shot over the left field fence off the bat of Kerecz bringing in herself, Pope, and Haller to score making it 7-3 Buccaneers.

In the top of the seventh, the Bears loaded the bases and threatened the Bucs lead. Dana fouled out with the bases loaded which allowed Collins-Fiore to come in to score making it 7-3. Coach Griffiths had already gone to Klemp's arm in the circle prior to that and she was able to shut the bears down through the final 2/3 of the inning to secure the first win for the Bucs over the Bears in 20 years.
