How It Happened

As was the theme in game one for the Bucs, the teams went scoreless through the first two innings of the game. In the third inning, Donlan doubled with Lane on second after she stole the bag on the previous pitch. Lane came in to score to give the Bucs a 1-0 lead.

Keeping the Hornets off the board, though unable to extend their lead through the next two innings, the Bucs finally did break out to a 3-0 advantage in the top of the sixth. Klemp reached on a muffed throw by the first baseman that allowed Patane to come around to score. Biondo then hit an infield single that plated Ostromecki to make it 3-0.

In the bottom of the sixth, the Hornets erased the shutout by scoring two runs. Anderson singled through the middle bringing in Southworth and Tembruell to score making it 3-2.

The Bucs were unable to score in the top of the seventh which left the door open for the Hornets in the bottom of the frame. Due to two errors by the Buccaneers Everett was able to score to tie the game at 3-3 and then Tembruell scored her second run of the game on a Knapp double to walk off with the 4-3 win over Maritime.

What's Next

The Buccaneers head north after finishing their slate of games in South Caroline. Their next games are scheduled for Saturday, March 11th against NVU-Johnson at 12 and 2pm.
