Softball Sweeps Fisher; Pope Breaks Program Stolen Base Record

BUZZARDS BAY, Mass -- The Buccaneers hosted Fisher College at Alison Rollins Field on Thursday for a non-conference double header. Maritime took game one 13-4 and game two 13-2. During game one, senior captain Abby Pope stole her 23rd career base to break the previous program's stolen base record held by Nicole Ash since 1996.

  • Ab'c'de Patane and Hannah Burton each had three hits in the win.
  • Kelsey Booke and Carleen Harring both had two hits.
  • Abby PopeErin DonlanRubi Butler, and Jennamarie Klemp all had one hit in the win.
  • Patane, Booker, Donlan and Klemp all hit doubles. 
  • Patane, Booker and Burton each hit triples. 
  • Patane and Burton each drove in three runs. Harring drove in two runs. Donlan, Butler and Klemp all drove in one run.
  • Pope, Patane, Klemp, and Burton all had stolen bases.
  • Donlan, Booker, and Patane all scored four times. Pope, Butler and Burton all scored three times. Ashley Haller scored once. 

Fisher

  • Jenna Malone, Kalia Zellmer, and Madison Kelley all had one hit. 
  • Zellmer had a double, the only extra base hit for the Falcons.
  • Zellmer drove in two runs in the loss.
  • Malone scored twice. Kelley and Nayleemar Montalvo each scored once.
  • Malone stole two bases and Kelley stole one in the game. 

How It Happened

Fisher opened the scoring in the first inning plating two runs on an error by the Bucs. In the bottom of the first, Maritime scored four runs to take their first lead of the game.

Fisher added two runs in the second to tie the game at 4-4. In the bottom of the frame, Maritime scored four runs to double up the Falcons 8-4.

In the bottom of the third, The Bucs put the finishing touches on the game scoring five more runs to take a 13-4 advantage.

The teams played out the fourth and top of the fifth inning and the Bucs took the win by run rule, 13-4.

  • Jenna Malone and Madison Kelley each had one hit for the Falcons and each drove in a run.
  • Nayleemar Montalvo and Skyler Beford scored the two Fisher runs.

 

How It Happened

Maritime scored first plating eight runs in the first inning including a two RBI single from Harring.

In the top of the second, Fisher scored their two runs on a Malone single and a bases loaded walk of Kelley. Maritime scored five in the bottom of the second to make it 13-2 after two.

Bucs pitching from Klemp and Patane shut down the Falcons for the rest of the game which ended by run rule after five innings by the same 13-2 score.

The Buccaneers will host Dean College at Rollins field in a non-conference doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 2pm.
