PLYMOUTH, Mass -- The Buccaneers sailing team hosted the Great Herring Pond Open over the weekend and picked up a seventh place finish in a field of 10 teams. 

Saturday presented trying condition on the pond with winds between zero and 12 knots. On Sunday, the conditions were much better with 7-15 knot winds that was much more consistent than one day one. 

The University of Rhode Island finished first with a total of 34 points and won 9 of the 16 events on the weekend. Boston University and Salve Regina rounded out the top three.

Maritime finished with 91 points in seventh place, one point behind the sixth place finishers from McGill University. The Bucs top finish in any of the events was second though they did post eight top-five finishes on the weekend.

Rounding out the field was UConn who finished 36 points behind the Buccaneers in the overall standings, UMass Dartmouth and Wesleyan.
