Harrison Notches Six Kills, Eight Digs As Volleyball Falls To Framingham State

BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. --  Freshman Kelly Brinkman (Gardiner, N.Y.) recorded 13 kills to lead Framingham State to a 3-0 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference volleyball victory over Massachusetts Maritime by game scores of 25-19, 25-8 and 25-7 in a league match played Thursday evening at the Clean Harbors Athletic Center.

 

Freshman Michaela Cronin (Hampden, Mass.) added 10 kills in the triumph for the visiting Rams (10-16, 4-2 MASCAC), who received 11 digs and seven kills from sophomore Deirdre Fay (Cornwall, N.Y.) as well as 11 digs each from senior Vicki Anderson (Attleboro, Mass.) and sophomore Alexandra Fish (Lincoln, R.I.).  Junior Mackenzie Whalen (Norton, Mass.) added 24 set assists, five digs and a pair of kills for Framingham State, which received five kills from freshman Brandey Rodriguez (Lawrence, Mass.).

 

Sophomore Marie Harrison (Weymouth, Mass.) registered six kills and eight digs in the setback for the host Buccaneers (3-20, 1-5 MASCAC), who received seven digs and five kills from freshman Kaylee Tolman (East Sandwich, Mass.) along with four kills from sophomore Meghan Sullivan (Hanover, Mass.).  Sophomore Michelle Sheehan (Attleboro, Mass.) recorded 12 set assists on the night for Massachusetts Maritime, which received 11 digs from sophomore Tina Ruggeri (Bourne, Mass.) as well as six digs, four set assists and a pair of kills from freshman Maddie Coughlin (Monroe, Conn.).

 

Massachusetts Maritime heads to Chestnut Hill, Mass. on Saturday afternoon for a non-league doubleheader with Pine Manor beginning at 1:00 p.m., while Framingham State travels to Standish, Maine on Saturday afternoon for a non-league tri-match with Suffolk and host Saint Joseph’s (Maine) that begins at 3:00 p.m.
