Roy Notches Six Kills As Volleyball Drops 3-0 Decision At Eastern Nazarene

QUINCY, Mass. --  Sophomore Courtney McCarthy (Merrimack, N.H.) registered 14 kills, five digs and four service aces to lead Eastern Nazarene to a 3-0 non-league college volleyball victory over Massachusetts Maritime by game scores of 25-11, 25-16 and 25-10 in a match played Thursday evening at the Lahue Center.

 

Sophomore Hailee Owen (South Portland, Maine) added six kills in the triumph for the host Lions (4-6), who received four kills and three digs from freshman Jenna Meacham (Millington, Mich.).  Senior Kayla Dean (Lansdale, Pa.) chipped in with 22 set assists, six digs and a pair of service aces for Eastern Nazarene, which also received eight digs from senior Oksana DiCamillo (Eighty-Four, Pa.) along with four service aces from junior Rebecca Ashman (Havre de Grace, Md.).

 

Junior Jennifer Roy (Attleboro, Mass.) notched six kills in the setback for the visiting Buccaneers (1-6), who also received five digs and a pair of kills from sophomore Marie Harrison (Weymouth, Mass.).  Sophomore Michelle Sheehan (Attleboro, Mass.) recorded eight set assists and seven digs on the night for Massachusetts Maritime, which received eight digs from sophomore Tina Ruggeri (Bourne, Mass.).  Freshman Kaylee Tolman (East Sandwich, Mass.) added seven digs for the visitors, who received four digs from junior April Puopolo (Abington, Mass.).

 

Massachusetts Maritime heads to Castine, Maine on Saturday evening to take on Merchant Marine in opening round play of the Eighth Annual Maritime Classic at Maine Maritime’s Smith Gymnasium beginning at 6:00 p.m., while Eastern Nazarene hosts Mitchell and Pine Manor in a non-league tri-match on Saturday morning at the Lahue Center that begins at 11:00 a.m.
