Volleyball "Gearying" Up For 29-Match Regular Season Slate Under New Mentor This Fall

The Massachusetts Maritime volleyball program is “gearying” up for the 2017 season, as Jenna-Lynn Geary has been promoted to the position of head coach after serving as a Buccaneer assistant in each of the last two campaigns.  Enthusiasm and excitement are running high for this year’s squad, which is set to take on a 29-match regular season slate this fall.

Massachusetts Maritime, which has posted the highest back-to-back season win totals in over a decade during the last two years, kicks off its 2017 schedule on Saturday, September 2nd with a non-league tri-match at Bay Path that includes Johnson State beginning at 10:00 a.m. EDT.  Geary’s crew welcomes Suffolk to the Clean Harbors Athletic Center on Tuesday, September 5th for the home opener at 7:00 p.m. EDT, and the Buccaneers will also entertain Pine Manor, Dean and Eastern Nazarene in non-league play while hosting Worcester State, Westfield State and Framingham State in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference action.

Geary’s squad will tangle with Curry, Becker, Eastern Nazarene, Dean, UMass Dartmouth, Wentworth, Rhode Island College and Pine Manor in non-league road contests, and Massachusetts Maritime will also travel to Maine Maritime during the weekend of September 16-17 for the Eighth Annual Maritime Classic with Merchant Marine, SUNY-Maritime and the host Mariners.  The Buccaneers will venture to Salem State, Bridgewater State, Fitchburg State and MCLA for MASCAC clashes as well this fall.
