Roy, Harrison Named As 2017 Buccaneer Volleyball Co-Captains

Preparations for the 2017 Massachusetts Maritime volleyball season are well underway, and first year Head Coach Jenna-Lynn Geary announced today that junior Jennifer Roy and sophomore Marie Harrison will serve as co-captains for this year’s Buccaneer squad.

Roy, a native of Attleboro, Mass. and a graduate of North Attleboro High School, ranked third on the team with 125 kills in 74 sets played a year ago, as she led Massachusetts Maritime with 29 solo blocks while chipping in with 56 digs and 19 service aces.  Harrison, a native of Weymouth, Mass. and a graduate of Weymouth High School, ranked second in kills (160) and digs (303) while notching 19 service aces and playing in all 104 sets in 2016.  Harrison became the first Buccaneer to garner Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week accolades last September 26th after averaging 11 kills and 12 digs in three contests.

“Both Jen and Marie have demonstrated great commitment and an incredible work ethic, and their infectious enthusiasm helps our program move forward each and every day,” Geary, a former standout at Lasell, says of her captains.  “I am fully confident that they will continue to set high standards of excellence for themselves and for their teammates going forward.”

Massachusetts Maritime begins the 2017 campaign on Saturday, September 2nd by heading to East Longmeadow, Mass. for a non-league tri-match with host Bay Path and Johnson State at 10:00 a.m. EDT.
