Garrity Records Six Kills As Volleyball Opens MASCAC Play With 3-0 Setback At Worcester State

WORCESTER, Mass. --  Senior Megan Brown (Dartmouth, Mass.) notched seven kills to lead Worcester State to a 3-0 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference volleyball victory over Massachusetts Maritime by game scores of 25-6, 25-6 and 25-15 in the league opener for both squads Tuesday evening at Assumption’s Laska Gymnasium.

 

Junior Alyssa Jasper (Rockland, Mass.) added four kills and two service aces for the host Lancers (2-8, 1-0 MASCAC), who also received four kills each from sophomores Samantha Patterson (Ashby, Mass.) and Meghan Deighan (Lynnfield, Mass.) as well as nine set assists from junior Amanda Lewis (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.).

 

Senior Michaela Garrity (Tiverton, R.I.) collected six kills and three digs in the setback for the visiting Buccaneers (2-7, 0-1 MASCAC), who also received two kills, five set assists and eight digs from junior Deb Langley (Abington, Mass.), three set assists from junior Meghan Weir (North Andover, Mass.) and six digs from freshman Emilee Spiller (Sandwich, Mass.).

 

Massachusetts Maritime travels to Boston on Saturday afternoon to take on Regis and host Wentworth in a non-league tri-match that begins at 1:00 p.m., while Worcester State heads to Plymouth, N.H. to take on Rhode Island College and host Plymouth State in a non-league tri-match beginning at 12:30 p.m.
