CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. --  Sophomore Emily Calnan (Hingham, Mass.) and freshman Meaghan Brain (Hanson, Mass.) each recorded a career-high 15 kills to lead Massachusetts Maritime to a wild 3-2 non-league college volleyball victory over Pine Manor Wednesday evening by game scores of 25-22, 14-25, 25-22, 24-26 and 17-15 in a match played at Brunelli Court.

 

Seniors Michaela Garrity (Tiverton, R.I.) and Melanie Holder (Calidonia, Panama) added nine kills each in the triumph for the visiting Buccaneers (3-17), who also received 17 set assists and three service aces from junior Meghan Weir (North Andover, Mass.) as well as 17 set assists from junior Deb Langley (Abington, Mass.).  Freshman Stephanie O’Connor (Westwood, Mass.) collected a career-high 32 digs and three service aces for Massachusetts Maritime, which also received 15 digs from Holder.

 

Junior Phalogne Pierre (Boston, Mass.) registered a career-high 26 kills in the setback for the host Gators (1-15), who also received 12 kills from junior Natasia Franklin (Windsor, Conn.).  Freshman Alexis Bushika (Adams, Mass.) recorded 26 set assists for Pine Manor, which also received 18 digs from junior Destiny Mann (Orlando, Fla.).

 

Massachusetts Maritime travels to Newport, R.I. on Saturday morning to take on host Salve Regina and Clark in a non-league tri-match that begins at 11:00 a.m., while Pine Manor heads into Boston to square off with host Wentworth and Becker in a non-league tri-match that also begins at 11:00 a.m.
