QUINCY, Mass. --  Junior Kortney Jenkins (Bunker Hill, W. Va.) registered nine kills to lead Eastern Nazarene to a 3-0 victory over Massachusetts Maritime and a sweep of a non-league college volleyball tri-match played Saturday afternoon at the Lahue Physical Education Center, as the host Lions began the day with a 3-1 triumph over Suffolk, which then posted a 3-0 win over its own over the Buccaneers.

 

Sophomore Hannah Welsh (Derry, N.H.) added six kills, six service aces and five digs in the nightcap victory for Eastern Nazarene (9-12) over Massachusetts Maritime (2-16), which came by game scores of 25-8, 25-7 and 25-13, while senior Cayla Clinkscale (Winchendon, Mass.) collected six kills and five service aces for the Lions, who also received 25 set assists and four service aces from freshman Lauryl Berger (Laurel, Del.).  Junior Deb Langley (Abington, Mass.) recorded a pair of kills and three set assists in the contest for the Buccaneers, who also received a pair of kills from junior Danielle Soar (Templeton, Mass.), nine digs from freshman Stephanie O’Connor (Westwood, Mass.) and a pair of service aces from freshman Cassidy Nice (Carver, Mass.).

 

Freshman Savannah Carpenter (Weston, Mass.) notched 14 kills in Suffolk’s 25-19, 25-14, 25-10 victory over Massachusetts Maritime, as the Rams (9-9) bested the Buccaneers for the second time on the season.  Senior Hailey Atkinson (Branford, Conn.) added seven kills in the win for Suffolk, which also received 13 digs from senior Colbey Kennedy (Old Lyme, Conn.) and 12 set assists from senior Sarah Arbogast (Chesterfield, Mo.).  Senior Michaela Garrity (Tiverton, R.I.) notched three kills and eight digs in the opening setback for Massachusetts Maritime, which also received three kills and a pair of service aces from sophomore Emily Calnan (Hingham, Mass.) to go with 12 digs from O’Connor, seven set assists from Langley and seven digs from junior Meghan Weir (North Andover, Mass.).

 

Massachusetts Maritime hosts Gordon in a non-league outing on Tuesday evening at the Clean Harbors Athletic Center beginning at 7:00 p.m., while Eastern Nazarene hosts Western New England in a Commonwealth Coast Conference match on Wednesday evening at the Lahue Physical Education Center that also begins at 7:00 p.m.  Suffolk heads to Nashua, N.H. on Tuesday evening to take on Rivier in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest that begins at 7:00 p.m.
