Brain Records Pair Of Kills, O'Connor Adds 11 Digs As Volleyball Drops Season Opening Decision At Anna Maria

PAXTON, Mass. --  Senior Kayla Cummings (Auburn, Maine) registered eight kills and three service aces to lead Anna Maria to a 3-0 non-league college volleyball victory over Massachusetts Maritime by game scores of 25-9, 25-9 and 25-11 in a match played Thursday evening at the Fuller Activities Center.

 

Sophomore Samantha Parker (Athol, Mass.) added 21 set assists and five kills in the win for the host Amcats (1-2), who also received five kills from sophomore Alyssa Haberman (Boca Raton, Fla.) as well as four kills and five service aces from senior Alexandra Rodriguez (Bayamon, P.R.).

 

Freshman Meaghan Brain (Hanson, Mass.) collected a pair of kills in her collegiate debut in the setback for the visiting Buccaneers (0-1) in their season opener, while fellow freshman Stephanie O’Connor (Westwood, Mass.) added 11 digs for Massachusetts Maritime, which also received two set assists and six digs from junior Deb Langley (Abington, Mass.).

 

Massachusetts Maritime travels to Milton, Mass. on Saturday afternoon to take on Southern Maine and host Curry in a non-league tri-match that begins at 1:00 p.m., while Anna Maria heads to Holyoke, Mass. on Saturday morning for a non-league quad match with New Rochelle, Pine Manor and host Bay Path beginning at 10:00 a.m.
