Langley Registers Five Kills, Garrity Adds 13 Digs As Volleyball Drops Tri-Match Decision To Curry, Southern Maine

MILTON, Mass. --  Freshman Nicole Grambley (North Attleboro, Mass.) notched five kills and 15 digs to lead Curry to a 3-0 non-league college volleyball victory over Massachusetts Maritime and a split of a tri-match on Saturday afternoon at the Curry Student Center.  The host Colonels dropped a 3-2 opening decision to Southern Maine, which completed the sweep with a 3-0 triumph over the Buccaneers in the middle match of the day.

 

Junior Christina Wallis (Peabody, Mass.) added four kills in the win for Curry (2-4), which came by game scores of 25-11, 25-14 and 25-11, while freshman Kayla Greeley (Medford, Mass.) added four kills and four service aces.  Junior Emily Boudreau (Marshfield, Mass.) chipped in with four kills and six digs for the Colonels, who also received 10 set assists from junior Hannah Robison (Cumberland, R.I.).

 

Junior Deb Langley (Abington, Mass.) paced Massachusetts Maritime (0-3) with five kills and eight digs in the nightcap setback, while freshman Meaghan Brain (Hanson, Mass.) added three kills for the Buccaneers, who also received seven digs each from senior Michaela Garrity (Tiverton, R.I.) and freshman Stephanie O’Connor (Westwood, Mass.).

 

Freshman Kristina Rubico (Chelmsford, Mass.) collected five kills and four service aces in Southern Maine’s 25-10, 25-4, 25-10 win over Massachusetts Maritime, as sophomore Jessica Garrett (Waterboro, Maine) and freshman Ali Stewart (Madbury, N.H.) each chipped in with five kills for the Huskies (4-1), who also received nine digs from sophomore Bridget Burns (Warrenville, Ill.).  Garrity notched a pair of kills and six digs in the opening setback for the Buccaneers, who also received four digs each from O’Connor and junior Meghan Weir (North Andover, Mass.).

 

Massachusetts Maritime hosts Suffolk in a non-league outing on Tuesday evening at the Clean Harbors Athletic Center beginning at 7:00 p.m., while Curry heads to Bridgewater, Mass. on Tuesday evening to take on Bridgewater State in a non-league contest that begins at 6:00 p.m.  Southern Maine hosts Maine-Machias and Castleton in a non-league tri-match on Sunday morning in Gorham, Maine beginning at 11:00 a.m.
