Garrity Collects Six Kills, Six Digs As Volleyball Drops 3-1 Non-League Decision To Becker

BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. --  Freshman Marissa Turner (Coventry, R.I.) notched seven kills and 11 digs to lead Becker to a 3-1 non-league college volleyball victory over Massachusetts Maritime by game scores of 25-10, 25-9, 23-25 and 25-14 in a match played Monday evening at the Clean Harbors Athletic Center.

 

Senior Jacqueline Chila (Monroe, Conn.) added six kills and a pair of service aces in the triumph for the visiting Hawks (4-19), who also received five kills and three digs from senior Angela Jankowski (Webster, Mass.) and four kills from sophomore Alexandra Berthaut (Manchester, Conn.).  Freshman Monica Conway (Pocasset, Mass.) added seven set assists and seven service aces for Becker, which also received 11 set assists from junior Lauren LaVallee (Millbury, Mass.).

 

Senior Michaela Garrity (Tiverton, R.I.) collected six kills and six digs in the setback for the host Buccaneers (3-23), who also received five kills, seven set assists and seven digs from junior Deb Langley (Abington, Mass.) as well as two kills and three set assists from junior Meghan Weir (North Andover, Mass.).  Sophomore Emily Calnan (Hingham, Mass.) added a pair of kills as well for Massachusetts Maritime, which also received 10 digs from freshman Stephanie O’Connor (Westwood, Mass.).

 

Massachusetts Maritime hosts Salem State in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference outing on Wednesday evening at the Clean Harbors Athletic Center beginning at 7:00 p.m., while Becker hosts Bay Path in a New England Collegiate Conference match on Wednesday evening in Leicester, Mass. that also begins at 7:00 p.m.
