Langley Records Pair Of Kills, O'Connor Adds 12 Digs As Volleyball Drops 3-0 MASCAC Decision At Bridgewater State

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. --  Senior Melanie Appleman (Hyannis, Mass.) recorded 18 set assists, four service aces and five digs to lead Bridgewater State to a 3-0 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference volleyball victory over Massachusetts Maritime Wednesday evening by game scores of 25-11, 25-15, and 25-10 in a league match played at the Tinsley Center.

 

Sophomore Julie Hutchins (Bellingham, Mass.) added five kills and a block solo for the host Bears (9-7, 2-1 MASCAC), who also received three service aces, four set assists and three digs from freshman Charleyne Panner (Gilford, N.H.) as well as three service aces and four digs from senior Chelsea Correia (East Falmouth, Mass.).

 

Junior Deb Langley (Abington, Mass.) recorded a pair of kills, two service aces and four set assists in the setback for the visiting Buccaneers (2-14, 0-3 MASCAC), who also received 12 digs from freshman Stephanie O’Connor (Westwood, Mass.).  Sophomore Emily Calnan (Hingham, Mass.) registered three kills for Massachusetts Maritime, which also received seven digs from senior Michaela Garrity (Tiverton, R.I.).

 

Massachusetts Maritime heads to Quincy, Mass. on Saturday afternoon to take on Suffolk and host Eastern Nazarene in a non-league tri-match that begins at 1:00 p.m., while Bridgewater State takes on WPI and Western Connecticut in opening round play of the Johnson & Wales Invitational on Friday afternoon in Providence, R.I. beginning at 4:00 p.m.
