Buccaneers Lose Regular Season Finale in Worcester

WORCESTER, Mass -- Women's soccer took on Worcester State on the road on Friday evening in the team's regular season finale. The Bucs were shutout by the Lancers, 5-0, and now wait for the result of Fitchburg State and Framingham State on Saturday when they will learn their playoff fate.

Maritime

  • Kylie Maher and Lindsy Durgin had the only shots in the game for Maritime.
  • Goalkeeper Reagan Kerecz made 21 saves in goal for the Bucs and allowed five goals.

Worcester

  • Lucy Watson and Jessica Forbes each scored twice for Worcester in the win.

How It Happened

Worcester scored in the third minute to take a 1-0 lead on Watson's first goal of the match. In the 27th minute, Watson scored her second to make it 2-0. The Lancers took the 2-0 advantage into the halftime break.

In the second half, the score remained 2-0 until the 75th minute. In the 75th, Lemanski scored to make it 3-0. Forbes went on to score in the 78th and 89th minutes to bring the score to the eventual final, 5-0.

 

What's Next

Maritime waits for the final of the Framingham State and Fitchburg State game on Saturday to find out if they have earned their first playoff berth in program history. If they do get into the postseason tournament, the Buccaneers will play on Tuesday evening, opponent to be determined.
