How It Happened

With steady rain throughout the game, the teams remained scoreless for the first 40 minutes of the first half. Then, in the 42nd minute, Lelievre found Santoro in the middle of the field and she dribbled to her right and found the bottom right corner of the net to put the Bucs up 1-0. Maritime took that one-goal lead to the halftime break.

In the second half, less than 10 minute in, the Bucs earned a free kick and from 25 yards out, Lelievre put the ball in the bottom left corner to give the Bucs a 2-0 lead in the 55th minute. Maritime held their clean sheet for 15 more minutes when, in the 70th minute, Frymire scored from the middle of the field in the 18-yard box on a pass from DeMaio to cut the deficit to one goal. MCLA controlled the ball for much of the remainder of the game and the Buccaneers defense held strong holding the Trailblazers off to earn the 2-1 conference victory.
