Bucs Strong Defense Can't Hold off Raiders

BUZZARDS BAY, Mass -- The Buccaneers women's soccer team opened their home schedule on Thursday in non-conference action against the Rivier Raiders. A strong defensive performance by the Bucs and their best offensive performance of the year wasn't enough to hold off their guests as the Raiders left with the victory, 2-0.

How It Happened

After 17 minutes of scoreless soccer on Taylor's Point, the Raiders found a way to get the ball in the back of the net on Lizotte's shot, her third goal of the season, on a pass from Butters in the 18th minute. The Raiders led 1-0 and took that lead into the halftime break.

In the second half, the Raiders earned a corner in the 54th minute. Butter delivered a ball into the box that missed the head of Lizotte and skirted into the back of the net to give Rivier a 2-0 lead. The Raiders went on to win by that 2-0 score.
