Women's Soccer Shutout in Conference Play by Vikings

SALEM, Mass -- Buccaneers women's soccer took on the Salem State Vikings in conference play on Saturday. The Vikings scored two goals in the first half and two late in to the second to shutout the Buccaneers 4-0.

Inside The Numbers

Maritime

  • The Bucs had four shots, three on target, in the game with two of those shots on target from Brady Descamps and one from Ally ReddishLindsy Durgin took the fourth shot for Maritime in the loss.
  • Goalkeeper Reagan Kerecz made nine saves and allowed the four Salem Goals.
  • In total, the Bucs had the four shots and did not earn a corner kick in the match.

Salem 

  • Brenna Paquette scored twice for Salem in the win. Kenna Mitza and Anna Latta each tallied one score. 
  • Sydney Durkin and Savannah Scrodin were each credited with an assist in the game.
  • Goalkeeper Lily Pfefferle made three saves on three shots in the win.
  • In total, the Vikings took 14 shots and had nine corners, seven in the first half, in the match.

How It Happened

Mitza opened the scoring for the hosts in the 18th minute with a goal on a pass from Durkin. Later in the first half, Latta scored her goal from Scrodin to make the score 2-0 at the half.

In the second half, the match remained 2-0 until the final five minutes of the game. In the 86th minute, Paquette scored her first of the game to make it 3-0 and then she scored again in the 89th minute to seal the game for the Vikings, 4-0, over Maritime in conference play.

 

What's Next

 

Maritime's next game is on the road on Tuesday, October 3rd against Bay Path in non-conference play. Kickoff from Longmeadow is set for 3:30pm.
