How It Happened

The two one-win teams battled hard for all 90 minutes of Wednesday's contest and though there were 11 shots in the first half neither team could find their way in to the back of the net. The game remained scoreless at the end of the first half with the Buccaneers down to 10 players after two yellows were shown to a Maritime defender.

In the second half, it took just over 15 minutes for the Lions to break the scoreless tie. Lee scored her first goal of the season on a pass from Cruise in the 61st minute to put ENC up 1-0. With the Lions staring at a 1-0 victory over the Bucs, Maritime earned multiple free kicks in the final minutes of the game and made one count. On a free kick from 35 yards out, Lelievre delivered a ball into the box past everyone except Santoro who barely stayed onsides. In her second clear chance of the game the freshman forward buried the ball into the bottom left corner to tie the game at 1-1 in the 87th minute. Both teams had one more shot to take the victory but the defenses stood pat leading to a 1-1 draw between the Bucs and Lions.
