Women's Soccer Scores 13 Times in win over Wildcats

LONGMEADOW, Mass -- Tuesday afternoon, the Buccaneers women's soccer team played a non-conference match against Bay Path in Western Mass. In a record day for the Bucs, the team scored 13 times and picked up their second win of the season with a 13-2 final.

Inside The Numbers

Maritime

  • Senior captain Ally Reddish scored twice in the win for the Bucs.
  • Freshman Leticia Ferrari scored her first career goal and tallied two in the game.
  • Freshman Ayla Santoro had her first two-goal game of her career in the match.
  • Brady DeschampsKylie MaherLindsy DurginReagan Kerecz and Taylor Blanton each scored once.
  • Freshman Emily Mullahy scored her first career goal.
  • Matilda Laux recorded her first-career assist in the match and had two overall.
  • Maher, Durgin, Santoro, Emma Robinson, Blanton, and Jenny Verrilli each had an assist.
  • Deschamps started the game in goal and earned the win making one save. Kerecz took over in the second half and allowed the two Wildcats goals.
  • In total, the Buccaneers took 66 shots, 39 on target, and earned 11 corners in the victory.

Bay Path

  • Isabella Ferrara and Molly Flure were the goal scorers for Bay Path.
  • Goalkeeper Taylor Suffoletto made 26 saves in goal and allowed the Bucs 13 goals.
  • In total, the Wildcats took four shots, three on target, and didn't have a corner in the loss.

How It Happened

Maritime opened the scoring in the 12th minute with two quick goals, the first from Reddish and the second from Santoro to give the Bucs a 2-0 lead. Reddish scored her second goal in the 15th minute that proved to be the game winner. Maritime scored three more times in the first half with Blanton, Kerecz and Mullahy each netting a goal. The Bucs led 6-0 at the half.

In the second half, The Bucs scored their seventh goal in the 59th minute from Durgin and then again in the 59th minute from Maher. Bay Path scored next, erasing the clean sheet for the Bucs with Ferrara's goal in the 60th minute. Later in the half, Ferrari scored twice for Maritime to make it a 10-1 scoreline. In the 81st, Deschamps scored to make the score 11-1. Flure scored her first goal of the season for the Wildcats in the 82nd minute to make it 11-2. In the 88th minute, Bay Path was credited with an own goal giving the Bucs a 10-goal, 12-2 advantage. In the 90th minute, Santoro scored her brace to finish off the scoring in the Maritime 13-2 win over the Wildcats.

Maritime is back home on Friday evening to take on Fitchburg State in conference play at Clean Harbors Stadium at 7pm.
