Mills, Robbs Earn Spots On MASCAC Men's Soccer All-Conference Squad For Second Straight Season

Massachusetts Maritime men’s soccer standouts Asa Mills and Rob Robbs earned spots on the 2013 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference all-conference team that was released by the league office earlier today, as they both earned all-conference accolades for a second straight season.

Mills, a senior back from Westport, Mass. and a graduate of Bishop Stang High School, earned his second straight first team all-MASCAC selection under Head Coach Greg Perry, as the Buccaneer tri-captain shares the team scoring lead with four goals and an assist for nine points, including a golden goal game-winner back on October 19th in a 1-0 overtime triumph at rival Bridgewater State.  In 56 career matches (52 starts), Mills has netted six goals and 13 total points while anchoring a backfield that has been one of the stingiest defensive units in the region.

Robbs, a junior midfielder from Braintree, Mass. and a graduate of Braintree High School, earned a spot on the second team all-MASCAC squad for a second straight season, as he has notched a goal and two assists for four points while starting in 17 of 18 matches to date, with his marker sealing last Saturday’s 2-0 victory at MCLA that clinched Massachusetts Maritime’s first post-season berth since 2004.  In 49 career appearances, Robbs has netted four goals and four assists, including five points during his rookie campaign in 2011.

The Buccaneers, who are 8-8-2 overall after posting a 3-3-1 MASCAC slate, captured the program’s first post-season triumph last night with a 1-0 victory over Salem State in the conference quarterfinals at Clean Harbors Stadium.  Perry, who was named as the MASCAC Champion’s Choice Coach of the Year earlier today, will guide his crew into the league semifinal round on Friday evening when fourth-seeded Massachusetts Maritime visits top-seeded Worcester State at Coughlin Field in Worcester, Mass. beginning at 7:00 p.m. EST.
