BOSTON, Mass. --  Junior Marcus Pizzetti (Malden, Mass.) netted a pair of goals and an assist for five points to lead UMass Boston to a 4-0 non-league college men’s soccer victory over Massachusetts Maritime Tuesday afternoon at Clark Athletic Field.

Freshman Edmilson Barros (Boston, Mass.) gave the host Beacons (10-6-1) the only goal they would need just 4:38 into the contest on a feed from fellow freshman Matheus Reis (Somerville, Mass.), and Pizzetti extended that margin to 2-0 in the 31st minute on an assist from freshman Paul Erne (San Diego, Calif.).  Junior Lucas Ordosgoitia (Cartagena, Colombia) converted a Pizzetti pass just 6:25 after intermission to increase UMass Boston’s advantage to 3-0, and Pizzetti closed out the scoring in the 69th minute on a feed from freshman Miguel Alcantar (San Diego, Calif.) to account for the final margin.

Sophomore Alfonso Rosales (Revere, Mass.) picked up his ninth victory and third shutout of the season with a four-save effort in goal for the Beacons, while freshman Joe Cohen (Plymouth, Mass.) made six stops in the setback for the visiting Buccaneers (6-6-2) as UMass Boston outshot Massachusetts Maritime by a 20-8 margin (10-4 on goal) while taking four of the five corners on the afternoon.

Massachusetts Maritime hosts Framingham State in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference outing on Friday evening at Clean Harbors Stadium beginning at 6:00 p.m., while UMass Boston hosts Plymouth State in a Little East Conference match on Saturday afternoon at Clark Athletic Field that begins at 1:00 p.m.
