Women's Lax Beaten by Rams on the Road

FRAMINGHAM, MA -- Women's lacrosse went to Framingham on Wednesday to play the Rams in conference play and their final away game of the regular season. Though they held a 4-0 lead three minutes into the game, Framingham turned on the jets and went on to win 22-8.

  • Alyssa DiScipio led the Bucs offense with three goals.
  • Cassie Llewellyn added two goals and led the team with two assists.
  • Nora McLaughlinAllie Dickinson, and Lindsy Durgin each scored once.
  • Beringhause picked up a game-high seven ground balls. 
  • Llewellyn won a game-high 11 draw controls.
  • Sarah Smialek and Beringhause each caused two turnovers.
  • The Bucs picked up 26 ground balls, were successful on seven of 19 clear attempts, won 15 draw controls, scored on three of six free position shots and took 19 shots in the game.

Framingham

  • Rachel Erickson scored five goals to lead all players.
  • Tara Palermo scored four goals in the win.
  • Hailey Baker, Hannah Guerin, and Leah Green each scored three times.
  • Regan Fein scored twice and led the Rams with five helpers.
  • Molly Lanier and Kathryn Simpson scored a goal each. 
  • Guerin had four assists, Palermo and Baker each had three.
  • Baker and Fein led the Rams with six ground balls each.
  • Simpson led the team in draw controls with six and led the team in caused turnovers with three.
  • Framingham picked up 39 ground balls, were successful on all 13 of their clear attempts, won 18 draw controls, scored on two of four free position shots and took 42 shots in the game.

How It Happened

Maritime jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead in the first 2.5 minutes of the game with goals from Durgin, Llewellyn, and two from DiScipio. After that, the Rams went on an eight-goal unanswered run to close out the quarter, leading 8-4 after 15 minutes.

Framingham continued the unanswered run in the early part of the second, scoring twice to run it to 10 straight. Llewellyn broke up the goal party with a goal of her own to male it 10-5 with 11:32 before the half. The teams traded goals within a minute of each other with six minutes left to make it 11-6. The Rams then went on to score four in two minutes to make it 15-6. With 1:10 left in the second, Dickinson scored for the Bucs to make it 15-7 at the break.

The Framingham defense stood strong in the second half, only allowing the Bucs to score one goal in the half that came at the end of the third from McLaughlin with 26 second left in the quarter. In the third, Framingham scored four more. The teams went to the fourth with the Rams leading 19-8.

The Rams scored three in the fourth to finish the game with the win, 22-8 over the Bucs in conference play.

 

What's Next

The Buccaneers will host Westfield State in their final regular season game of 2022 before heading to the MASCAC playoffs next week. Gametime against Westfield State is set for 12pm. It will be senior day for the Buccaneer seniors prior to the game.
