How It Happened

The Buccaneers control the first quarter scoring two goals, both from DiScipio, in the first five minutes of the game. The Buccaneer defense held the AMCATS to no goals in the first though they could not net anymore in the period either. The game went to the second, 2-0, in favor of the Bucs.

In the second, the Bucs scored two more unanswered goals in the first seven minutes. Llewellyn scored her first of the season on an assist from Dickinson with just over two minutes gone in the quarter. Dickinson then scored her first career goal at the 8:53 mark of the second to give the Buccaneers a 4-0 lead. Later in the quarter the AMCATS found their way on to the scoresheet with a goal from Rufo with 3:55 remaining before the half. Less than a minute later, Hachey scored her only goal of the night to cut the Bucs lead in half, 4-2. That same score took the teams to the halftime break.

In the third period, with some mist falling on the field, the Bucs extended their lead three minutes in to the period on DiScipio's third of the night from McLaughlin. Down 5-2, Rufo scored again for the AMCATS later in the quarter. With 4:37 left before the fourth, the Bucs led 5-3. At this point the flood gates opened for Maritime. In the final four minutes of the third they rattled off five goals; three from DiScipio, one from Dickinson and the other from Albertson, her first of the season. At the end of three, the Bucs had a commanding 10-3 advantage.

The final 15 minutes of play was slow offensively on both sides with the only goal of the quarter coming from DiScipio with four second left in regulation. Maritime grabbed the win, 11-3, and are now 1-0 on the season.
