Women's Lacrosse Shuts out MCLA in Conference Play

BUZZARDS BAY, MA -- Maritime entertained MCLA on Friday evening at Clean Harbors Stadium in conference play. The Buccaneers beared down and won the game 22-0 setting multiple single game records.

Maritime

  • Cassie Llewellyn and Nora McLaughlin scored five goals each to lead all players.
  • Alyssa DiScipio scored four times
  • Allie Dickinson added three goals in the win.
  • Paige Albertson scored twice.
  • Grace CalvertCaleigh Tompkins, and Linsy Durgin each scored once.
  • DiScipio tallied eight assists, a new single-game program record.
  • Dickinson had three assists. Albertson and McLaughlin each recorded two assists. Durgin had one helper.
  • Llewellyn picked up a game-high seven ground balls. 
  • DiScipio won 12 draw controls, second all-time in a single-game in program history.
  • Llewellyn caused a team-high three turnovers
  • Maritime picked up a total of 32 ground balls, were successful on all 14 of their clear attempts, won 20 draw controls, scored on three of six free position shots and took a total of 29 shots in the game.

MCLA

  • Julia Graham took a team-high two shots in the game. 
  • Skeylyn Haynes picked up a team-high five ground balls.
  • Graham won two draw controls. 
  • Haynes caused four turnovers, a game-high.
  • MCLA picked up 15 ground balls, were successful on eight of 23 clears, won six draw controls, and took four shots in the loss.

How It Happened

Maritime scored nine goals in the first quarter. The first was scored by Llewellyn with 12:39, the ninth by Calvert with 2:18 in the quarter. The Bucs led 9-0 after 15 minutes.

In the second, Maritime added six more goals, three by McLaughlin, to take a 15-0 lead at the half.

The Bucs scored four in the third, three by Llewellyn and one by Dickinson. The Bucs were up 19-0 after 45 minutes.

In the fourth quarter, Dickinson, Tompkins and McLaughlin each scored to set the Bucs up for their 22-0 shutout win.

The 22 goals by the Bucs in the game is their most scored in a game in program history, and their largest ever margin over victory.

The Buccaneers will host Bridgewater State on Tuesday, March 19th at 7pm in Conference play at Clean Harbors Stadium.
