WESTFIELD, Mass. --  Senior Alex Burgess-Chrost (Leominster, Mass.) notched eight kills and 17 digs to lead Massachusetts Maritime to a 3-1 non-league college volleyball victory over Pine Manor Saturday afternoon by game scores of 25-23, 20-25, 25-23 and 25-23 in a match played at Westfield State’s Woodward Center.

Sophomore Meghan Weir (North Andover, Mass.) added seven kills and four digs for the Buccaneers (2-21, 0-4 MASCAC), who also received 12 set assists, 12 digs and three kills from sophomore Deb Langley (Abington, Mass.) in avenging a five-set setback suffered to the Gators (3-9) just 10 days ago at the Clean Harbors Athletic Center.  Junior Ashley Button (Southfield, Mass.) and freshman Emily Calnan (Hingham, Mass.) each chipped in with three kills for the winners, who also received 11 digs and two kills from junior Michaela Garrity (Tiverton, R.I.), seven digs from freshman Marissa Boudreau (New Bedford, Mass.) and five set assists and five digs from freshman Kelsey Black (Plympton, Mass.).

Sophomore Destiny Mann (Orlando, Fla.) paced Pine Manor with 12 service aces, nine set assists and six kills in the setback, while sophomore Natasia Franklin (Windsor, Conn.) added four kills and six service aces for the Gators, who also received five kills and seven set assists from freshman Michelle Cole (Quincy, Mass.).

Massachusetts Maritime opened the day by dropping a 3-0 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference decision to host Westfield State by game scores of 25-5, 25-11 and 25-9.  Freshman Shannon Shea (Chelmsford, Mass.) led the host Owls (6-16, 3-1 MASCAC) with nine kills and four digs, while freshman Stana Wheeler (Sunderland, Mass.) added 29 set assists and five service aces for the winners.  Burgess-Chrost collected two kills and four digs in the opening setback for the Buccaneers, who also received seven digs from Garrity and a pair of set assists from Langley.

Westfield State swept the tri-match by notching a 3-0 (25-6, 25-11, 25-16) victory over Pine Manor.

Massachusetts Maritime heads to Salem, Mass. on Tuesday evening to take on Salem State in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference match that begins at 7:00 p.m., while Westfield State hosts MCLA in a MASCAC outing on Tuesday evening at the Woodward Center that also begins at 7:00 p.m.  Pine Manor hosts Southern Maine in a non-league match on Tuesday evening in Chestnut Hill, Mass. beginning at 7:00 p.m.
