BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. --  Senior Caroline Boyd (Hampden, mass.) and freshman Raeann Nesta (Niantic, Conn.) each registered seven kills to lead Simmons to a 3-0 non-league college volleyball victory over Massachusetts Maritime Thursday evening by game scores of 25-9, 25-10 and 25-9 in a match played at the Clean Harbors Athletic Center.

Senior Kelly Last (West Haven, Conn.) and junior Rossi Fish (North Attleboro, Mass.) added five kills each on the night for the visiting Sharks (5-4), who also received 13 service aces from freshman Kyla McCabe-Corrow (Madbury, N.H.) and 22 set assists from senior Rachel Dufault (Westport, Mass.).  Junior Nafessa Connolly (Natick, Mass.) added five service aces and four digs for Simmons, which also received four digs from freshman Chanel Thomas (Phoenix, Ariz.).

Sophomore Deb Langley (Abington, Mass.) notched a pair of kills and three set assists in the setback for the host Buccaneers (0-5), who also received two kills and a service ace from freshman Emily Calnan (Hingham, Mass.).  Freshman Kelsey Black (Plympton, Mass.) added two set assists and two digs for Massachusetts Maritime, which also received a combined seven digs from junior Michaela Garrity (Tiverton, R.I.) and sophomore Lauren O’Shaughnessy (Yarmouthport, Mass.).

Massachusetts Maritime hosts Merchant Marine in opening round play of the Third Annual Maritime Volleyball Classic on Saturday evening at the Clean Harbors Athletic Center beginning at 7:00 p.m., while Simmons heads to Cambridge, Mass. on Saturday afternoon for a non-league tri-match at MIT that begins at 2:00 p.m.
