BABSON PARK, Mass. --  Freshman Sophie Stewart (Beijing, China) notched six kills and five service aces to lead Babson to a 3-0 victory over Massachusetts Maritime and a sweep of a non-league college volleyball tri-match played Saturday afternoon at Stake Gymnasium.  The host Beavers posted a 3-0 triumph in the opening contest over UMass Dartmouth, who then topped the Buccaneers by a 3-0 final in the middle match.

Junior Christina Cervini (Shrewsbury, Mass.) added five kills and seven digs in the nightcap 25-5, 25-11, 25-9 victory for Babson (13-3), which also received four service aces each from senior Cathy Tinker (Woodbridge, Conn.) and freshman Mary Donahue (Braintree, Mass.).  Sophomore Meghan Weir (North Andover, Mass.) registered a pair of kills in the nightcap setback for Massachusetts Maritime (1-14), which also received three digs each from senior Alex Burgess-Chrost (Leominster, Mass.) and freshman Emily Calnan (Hingham, Mass.) as well as a pair of set assists from sophomore Deb Langley (Abington, Mass.).

Sophomore Madison Shea (Millis, Mass.) recorded eight kills in the middle match victory for UMass Dartmouth’s Corsairs (14-2), which came by game scores of 26-24, 25-21 and 25-8, while junior Tahirah Gibson (Norwood, Mass.) and sophomore Caitlin Bien (Millbury, Mass.) each notched four kills for the winners, who also received eight set assists from freshman Rebecca Larson (Fairhaven, Mass.).  Burgess-Chrost collected four kills and 10 digs in the middle setback for the Buccaneers, who also received three kills and three digs from Calnan, two kills and four set assists from Langley as well as two kills and 12 digs from junior Michaela Garrity (Tiverton, R.I.).

Massachusetts Maritime hosts Pine Manor in a non-league outing on Wednesday evening at the Clean Harbors Athletic Center beginning at 7:00 p.m., while Babson heads to Wellesley, Mass. on Tuesday evening for a New England Women’s & Men’s Athletic Conference clash with Wellesley at 7:00 p.m.  UMass Dartmouth hosts Rhode Island College in a Little East Conference match on Tuesday evening in North Dartmouth, Mass. that also begins at 7:00 p.m.
