BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. --  Junior Julia Christian (Cohoes, N.Y.) registered 11 kills and six digs to lead MCLA to a college volleyball tri-match sweep on Monday afternoon, as the Trailblazers topped Becker by a 3-1 final in non-league play before notching a 3-0 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference triumph over Massachusetts Maritime in contests played at the Clean Harbors Athletic Center.

Sophomores Angelica Perfido (Whately, Mass.) and Sam Barbarotta (Pittsfield, Mass.) each notched 10 kills on the day for MCLA (7-14, 1-3 MASCAC), as the Trailblazers bested Becker’s Hawks (2-15) by game scores of 25-15, 25-19, 13-25 and 25-20 before posting a 25-9, 25-15, 25-15 victory over the host Buccaneers (1-17, 0-3 MASCAC).  Junior Kelley Bryant (West Springfield, Mass.) added 36 total digs (26 against Becker) in the two contests for MCLA, which also received eight kills from junior Kendra Hobbs (Haverhill, Mass.), 28 set assists from sophomore Brittany Kish (East Longmeadow, Mass.) and 19 set assists and eight service aces from freshman Courtney Parent (South Deerfield, Mass.).

Becker received a combined 15 kills and eight digs on the day from junior Jacqueline Chila (Monroe, Conn.), while sophomore Danielle Robbie (Bellingham, Mass.) added 14 kills and 15 digs for the Hawks, who opened play with a 3-0 victory over Massachusetts Maritime that came by game scores of 25-11, 25-21 and 25-13.  Junior Katelyn Burns (Fall River, Mass.) added seven kills and 16 digs for Becker, which also received a combined 31 set assists and 15 digs from senior Joanna Slomiak (Brockton, Mass.).

Junior Ashley Button (Southfield, Mass.) paced the Buccaneers with five kills on the day, while senior Alex Burgess-Chrost (Leominster, Mass.) added three kills, five service aces and 14 digs for the hosts, who also received three kills and six set assists from sophomore Deb Langley (Abington, Mass.) as well as three kills and 14 digs from sophomore Meghan Weir (North Andover, Mass.).  Freshman Kelsey Black (Plympton, Mass.) chipped in with six set assists for Massachusetts Maritime, which also received four digs from sophomore Lauren O’Shaughnessy (Yarmouthport, Mass.).

Massachusetts Maritime heads to Wenham, Mass. on Tuesday evening to take on Gordon in a non-league outing at 7:00 p.m., while Becker travels to Worcester, Mass. on Thursday evening to take on Worcester State in a non-league match that also begins at 7:00 p.m.  MCLA hosts Lyndon State in a non-league contest on Thursday evening in North Adams, Mass. beginning at 7:00 p.m.
