GORHAM, Maine --  Junior Madalyn Terry (Kennebunkport, Maine) and freshman Kelsey Abramson (Deerfield, Mass.) each registered six kills to lead Southern Maine to a 3-0 non-league college volleyball victory over Massachusetts Maritime Saturday afternoon as part of a tri-match at Hill Gymnasium.  The host Huskies dropped the opening match of the day by a 3-2 final to Curry, who then bested the Buccaneers in the middle match by a 3-0 final.

Junior Annie Mitchell (Gorham, Maine) added five kills, five digs and four service aces in the triumph for Southern Maine (1-3), which snapped a 31-match winless streak that dated back to September 2010 by game scores of 25-12, 25-15 and 25-11.  Freshman Bridget Burns (Warrenville, Ill.) added 24 set assists for the Huskies, who also received seven digs from freshman Demi Ruder (Clifton, Colo.).

Sophomore Deb Langley (Abington, Mass.) notched a pair of kills and two service aces in the nightcap setback for Massachusetts Maritime (0-3), which also received two kills and three digs from junior Michaela Garrity (Tiverton, R.I.) as well as two kills each from senior Alex Burgess-Chrost (Leominster, Mass.) and freshman Emily Calnan (Hingham, Mass.).

Senior Kendra LeMay (Chicopee, Mass.) recorded nine kills and three digs in Curry’s triumph over the Buccaneers, which came by game scores of 25-15, 25-9 and 25-11.  Sophomore Tiana Sturtze (Worcester, Mass.) added seven kills and three solo blocks for the Colonels, who also received six kills from freshman Brittany Lynch (Randolph, Mass.).

Burgess-Chrost notched five kills and five digs in the opening setback for Massachusetts Maritime, which also received two kills and five set assists from Langley along with two kills each from Calnan and freshman Kelsey Black (Plympton, Mass.).

The Buccaneers begin Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference play on Tuesday evening by heading to Framingham, Mass. to take on Framingham State in a league outing that begins at 7:00 p.m.  Southern Maine hosts Maine-Machias and Becker in a non-league tri-match on Sunday morning at Hill Gymnasium that begins at 11:00 a.m., while Curry hosts Becker in a non-league contest on Thursday evening in Milton, Mass. beginning at 6:00 p.m.
