Men's Lax Takes on Beacons in LEC Semifinals

BUZZARDS BAY, MA -- For the second in a month, the Buccaneers will play UMass Boston. The first time the two teams met was on Saturday, April 9th at Clean Harbors Stadium. The Beacons were victorious in the game, 20-9.

This time, the teams will meet in East Boston at BC High at 1:30pm in the semifinals of the Little East Conference playoffs. Boston comes into the tournament as the number one seed in the tournament while the Buccaneers are the number four seed having beaten the fifth seeded Eastern Connecticut Warriors on Tuesday at home, 15-5.

In the last meeting between the Buccaneers and Beacons, Spencer Jones scored three times to lead the team with Dale Donovan scoring twice. Sean Lally made eight saves in goal and Brian Rosher won 14 of 33 faceoffs. Going into the game on Thursday, Jones currently sits at 99 career points with 74 goals and 25 assists. He had two goals in the win over ECSU on Tuesday.

For the Beacons, the players to watch are Gavid Admirand who scored seven times in the regular season against Maritime. Darragh Fahey and Jacob Banks each scored three times in that game. Trevor Koppy made 11 saves between the pipes while giving up six goals. 

The Buccaneers willbe trying to upset one of the best teams in the region on Thursday for a change to play either Keene State or West Conn on Saturday in the Little East Conference Championship.
