2022 Season Preview: Men's Lacrosse

WHAT TO KNOW

  • The Buccaneers welcome back 26 players from the 2021 roster including captains Leo AllgaierOwen DonohueSpencer Jones, and Patrick Lawson
  • The Buccaneers posted a 3-1 record last season in an abbreviated, non-conference, 2021 seqason.
  • Coach Bagby's staff has six freshman on this year's squad.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

  • Junior attacker Mitchell Maida returns to the Bucs coming off of a team-high 19 goal and team-high 10 assist season in the team's 3-1 2021 campaign.
  • Senior Captain Spencer Jones was second on the team last season with 13 goals and added four assists.
  • After a successful freshman season, Gage Coolahan is back for year two after finishing 2021 second on the team in assists with eight and had five goals.
  • There are a number of players on the team who will compete for the team's faceoff job after the graduation of 2021 senior Colby Unterstein.
  • Goalkeepers Victor Wright and Peter Raei are back for 2022 to compete for the time between the pipes in the teams 15 game season.

STORYLINES

  • Though they have been in the conference officially since the 2020 season, the Bucs will play their first Little East Conference game on March 26th against Keene State at home. 
  • The Buccaneers will play a 15-game season in 2022. The season opens on the road against Wheaton on March 2nd with the home opener on March 5th against Curry. The season will conclude with a game on the road at Castleton on April 29th.
  • Many starters are returning for the team thought there will be some younger guys that find their way in to the rotation as the season progresses.
  • The Bucs were picked to finish 5th in the LEC preseason poll.
