The Bucs led 6-2 with five to play in the first. In the final five minutes, Sale scored twice at 4:51 and 1:15. In the second, Maritime once again scored two goals to open the quarter, this time in three minutes, both from Jones. Salem followed with two of their own from Fleming and Albert. Coolhana and Cioffi traded goals and the Bucs led 12-7 with 3:56 on the clock in the second. The Buccaneers went on to score twice more, from Coolahan and Lamattina, to take a 14-1 lead at the half.
