Men's Lax Closes Out Regular Season With Win
CASTLETON, VT -- Men's lacrosse traveled to Vermont on Friday evening to play Castleton in their final conference and regular season game of 2022. With a LEC playoff spot locked up and a home playoff game next Tuesday, the Bucs held nothing back against the Spartans winning the game 20-6.

- Spencer Jones and Mitchell Maida each scored four goals in the game. Nick Lamattina netted three of his own with Ryan Cameron scoring twice.
- Evan Doig, Leo Allgaier, Gage Coolahan, Dale Donovan, Brian Rosher, Patrick Lawson, and Braeden Kosiewicz all scored once.
- Jack Iversen and Rosher both recorded two assists.
- Coolahan, Cameron, Lawson and Jones all had one helper.

- Castleton picked up 35 ground balls, cleared 15 times in 28 attempts, won 13 faceoffs, failed to score on two power play opportunities, and took 30 total shots.
How It Happened
The Buccaneers opened the game with a five-goal run with the first three goals all coming within 32 seconds from 12:43 when Coolahan scored the first, and 12:11 when Donovan scored the third. Jones and Maida added goals within 20 seconds of each other between 6:38 and 6:18 of the first. Castleton got on the board at 5:09 to make it 5-1. Maritime scored two more before the quarter finished to take a 7-1 lead after one.
In the second, there were four goals scored, all by the Bucs, all in the first eight minutes of the quarter. At the half, Maritime led their hosts 11-1.
Already on a 6-0 run going back to the first, Maritime scored four more unanswered to push the run to 10-4 and had a 15-1 lead with 12:06 left in the third. Castleton got one back from Labonte at 10:47. In the last 10 minutes of the quarter the Buccaneers scored three time to the Spartans two goals. Lamattina scored the last of the quarter with eight second remaining to put the bucs up 18-4 after three.
There were four goals in the fourth, the first from Maritime, second from Castleton, the Bucs scored another, Leo Allgaier's first, and Castleton closed out the scoring with 1:52 left in regulation. The Bucs ran out the clock and took a 20-6 win from the Green Mountains back to Buzzards Bay.
Maritime finished the regular season 7-8 with a 5-3 conference record.
What's Next
Maritime will host Eastern Connecticut on Tuesday, May 3rd at 7pm at Clean Harbors Stadium in the first round of the LEC playoffs. The winner of the game will face UMass Boston on Thursday, May 5th in Boston.
