NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. --  Freshman Adam Niden (Walpole, Mass.) scored six goals and added an assist for seven points, while junior Nick Brett (Loudin, N.H.) added four goals and four assists for eight points to lead UMass Dartmouth to a 16-7 non-league college men’s lacrosse victory over Massachusetts Maritime Thursday afternoon at Cressy Field.

The host Corsairs (5-0) remained unbeaten on the season by scoring six of the first seven goals of the contest in taking a 7-3 advantage at the break, and UMass Dartmouth netted eight of the 10 markers scored in the third quarter, including hat tricks each by Niden and Brett, to take a 15-5 lead into the final 15 minutes of action.  Senior Josh Arsenault (Revere, Mass.) added a pair of goals and four assists for six points for the winners, who also received two goals off the stick of junior Christian Roberto (Wakefield, Mass.).  Senior Bobby Smith (Wakefield, Mass.) and sophomore Mike Lynch (Lynn, Mass.) added single tallies for the Corsairs, who also received a pair of assists from freshman Todd Davis (Sandwich, Mass.) as well as single helpers off the sticks of sophomore Larry Gilvarg (Natick, Mass.) and freshman Dennis Healy (Hanover, Mass.).

Senior Chris Davis (Cohasset, Mass.) registered a hat trick in the setback for the visiting Buccaneers (1-4), who also received a pair of goals and an assist from senior Ryan Linn (Bourne, Mass.) as well as a marker and helper each from senior Craig Nichols (Marshfield, Mass.) and junior Will Doucette (Manchester, Mass.).  Senior Jake Bickley (Wilbraham, Mass.) and sophomores James Burns (Duxbury, Mass.) and Kevin Flanigan (Sandwich, Mass.) also collected assists on the day for Massachusetts Maritime.

Sophomore Pete Foley (Northbridge, Mass.) picked up the win in goal for UMass Dartmouth with five saves over the first 45 minutes of action, while junior Andrew Weaver (Westport, Mass.) made three stops over the final 15 minutes of play for the hosts.  Freshman Jack Murphy (Cohasset, Mass.) made 18 saves over 53 minutes of action in the setback for Massachusetts Maritime, while fellow freshman Dan Bourque (Reading, Mass.) made one stop in the last seven minutes for the visitors as the Corsairs outshot the Buccaneers by a 47-27 margin for the contest.

Massachusetts Maritime takes on Maine Maritime in the Admiral’s Cup clash between the two schools on Saturday afternoon at Fitzpatrick Stadium in Portland, Maine beginning at 2:00 p.m., while UMass Dartmouth hosts Norwich in a non-league outing on Saturday afternoon at Cressy Field beginning at 1:00 p.m.
