BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. --  Senior Andrew Eriksen (Beverly, Mass.) netted a hat trick and two assists for five points to lead Plymouth State to an 11-7 non-league college men’s lacrosse victory over Massachusetts Maritime Tuesday afternoon at Clean Harbors Stadium.

Eriksen scored twice in a five-goal second quarter outburst that enabled the visiting Panthers (3-1) to overcome a 3-1 first quarter deficit and take a 6-5 advantage at the break, but the host Buccaneers (1-3) evened matters just 1:22 after intermission on a goal by senior Jake Bickley (Wilbraham, Mass.) to knot the score at 6-6.  Senior Drew Kirwin (Bow, N.H.) gave Plymouth State a 7-6 edge with 8:25 remaining in the third stanza on a man-up marker, and sophomore Kevin Flanigan (Sandwich, Mass.) evened things up again for Massachusetts Maritime with 2:24 to play in the quarter, the Panthers took the lead for good with a pair of tallies in a 19-second span by Kirwan and junior Teddy Akrivlellis (Dover, Mass.) for a 9-7 cushion heading into the final 15 minutes of action.  Freshman Zach Frank’s (Wakefield, Mass.) man-up goal 23 seconds into the fourth quarter extended Plymouth State’s lead to 10-7, and Eriksen completed his hat trick with 9:38 remaining in the contest to ice the visitors’ triumph.

Kirwin, Frank and sophomore Ty Long (Dover, N.H.) each netted a pair of goals and an assist for three points in the win for the Panthers, who also received a goal and an assist from Akrivlellis as well as a single tally from freshman Chris Annunciata (Waltham, Mass.).  Sophomore Stephen Patch (Newbury, N.H.) collected two assists on the day for Plymouth State, which also received a helper off the stick of sophomore Mike Ventura (Columbia, N.J.).  Senior Chris Davis (Cohasset, Mass.) notched a pair of goals and two assists in the setback for Massachusetts Maritime, which also received a pair of goals and an assist from sophomore James Burns (Duxbury, Mass.) as well as a goal and assist off the stick of junior Will Doucette (Manchester, Mass.).  Seniors Ryan Linn (Bourne, Mass.) and Craig Nichols (Marshfield, Mass.) chipped in with assists on the afternoon for the Buccaneers.

Junior Jack Tyo (East Sandwich, Mass.) picked up the win in goal for Plymouth State with a five-save effort, while freshman Jack Murphy (Cohasset, Mass.) made six stops in net for Massachusetts Maritime as the Panthers outshot the Buccaneers by a 27-20 margin for the match.

Massachusetts Maritime heads to North Dartmouth, Mass. on Thursday afternoon to take on UMass Dartmouth in a non-league outing that begins at 4:00 p.m., while Plymouth State travels to Babson Park, Mass. on Thursday afternoon to take on Babson in a non-league match beginning at 4:00 p.m.
