BOSTON, Mass.-- Senior Chris Davis (Cohasset, Mass.) scored a career-high five goals and added an assist to finish with six points in leading Massachusetts Maritime to a 19-9 non-league college men's lacrosse victory over Emerson Thursday evening at Rotch Field.

The visiting Buccaneers (1-1) overcame a two-goal deficit after the opening quarter of action and took control of the match with a seven-goal second quarter outburst, as Davis netted a hat trick in the middle 15 minutes of play that staked Massachusetts Maritime to a 10-6 advantage at the break. The Buccaneers scored the first three goals after intermission and used a pair of man-up markers off the stick of freshman Chris Bergau (Merritt Island, Fla.) to grab a 15-7 lead with just under 10 minutes remaining in the third quarter, and after the host Lions (0-1) crept back to within six at 15-9 on senior Josh Anderson's (Underhill Center, Vt.) third goal of the evening, the visitors iced their triumph by netting all three goals in the final quarter of play to account for the final score and presenting first year Head Coach Rory Deegan with his first collegiate victory.

Senior Ryan Linn (Bourne, Mass.) added a hat trick in the win for Massachusetts Maritime, which also received a pair of goals and an assist from sophomore James Burns (Duxbury, Mass.) as well as two goals off the stick of freshman Daniel Sibbald (Weymouth, Mass.). Junior Will Doucette (Manchester, Mass.) added a goal and an assist on the night for the Buccaneers, who also received single tallies off the sticks of senior Max Wigglesworth (Beverly, Mass.), junior Matt White (Westwood, Mass.) and sophomores Kevin Flanigan (Sandwich, Mass.) and Thomas Lumb (North Reading, Mass.). Freshman Stephen Ferro (South Deerfield, Mass.) registered a pair of assists for the winners, who also received a single helper off the stick of senior Craig Nichols (Marshfield, Mass.).

Anderson and sophomore Zoe Fisk (Gardiner, Maine) each recorded hat tricks and a pair of assists for five points in the setback for Emerson, which also received a hat trick off the stick of freshman Brady Darragh (Bayport, N.Y.).

Freshman Jack Murphy (Cohasset, Mass.) picked up his first collegiate win in goal with a three-save first have effort for Massachusetts Maritime, as fellow freshman Dan Bourque (Reading, Mass.) made five second half stops for the visitors in his collegiate debut. Senior Braden Campbell (Northfield, N.J.) made 23 saves in the setback for Emerson, as the Buccaneers outshot the Lions by a 68-28 margin for the contest.

Massachusetts Maritime heads to Throggs Neck, N.Y. on Saturday afternoon to take on New York Maritime in the Third Annual Maritime Cup clash that begins at 4:00 p.m., while Emerson heads to Weston, Mass. on Saturday afternoon to take on Regis in a non-league outing that begins at 3:00.
