BOSTON, Mass. --  Sophomore Bridget Allison (Westford, Mass.) notched seven kills and nine digs to lead Suffolk to a 3-0 non-league college volleyball victory over Massachusetts Maritime by game scores of 26-24, 25-14 and 25-21 in a match played Tuesday evening at Regan Gymnasium.

 

Sophomore Talia Lombardo (Windham, N.H.) added six kills, five digs and nine set assists in the season-opening triumph for the host Rams (1-0), who also received five kills, 10 digs and four service aces from freshman Alyssa Gibson (Taunton, Mass.).  Junior Liz Kerek (Holbrook, Mass.) recorded 18 set assists for Suffolk, which also received 13 digs from sophomore Emma Feeney (Monroe, Conn.) and a combined 10 kills from junior Jane Buckley (Plaistow, N.H.) and sophomore Chidera Nwankwo (Canton, Mass.).

 

Senior Charleen Klangos (Lowell, Mass.) recorded a match-high 10 kills to go with five digs in the setback for the visiting Buccaneers (0-3), who also received nine kills and a pair of blocks from sophomore Jennifer Roy (Attleboro, Mass.).  Freshman Michelle Sheehan (Attleboro, Mass.) collected 13 set assists and seven digs for Massachusetts Maritime, which also received 11 digs from freshman Christina Ruggeri (Bourne, Mass.).  Freshman Marie Harrison (Weymouth, Mass.) added eight digs for the Buccaneers, who also received three kills from senior Meaghan Brain (Hanson, Mass.) and seven set assists from senior Emma Ethier (Norton, Mass.).

 

Massachusetts Maritime hosts Nichols in a non-league outing on Thursday evening at the Clean Harbors Athletic Center that begins at 7:00 p.m., while Suffolk heads to Northampton, Mass. on Saturday morning to take on Husson and UMass Boston at the Smith Invitational beginning at 11:00 a.m.
